Samsung refrigerator repair in Denver — ice makers, fans, defrost and cooling problems. When a Samsung refrigerator stops cooling, the display often tells you why before a technician does. Samsung refrigerators run self-diagnostics and show codes like 22E, 39E or 5E on the front panel. We repair Samsung French-door, side-by-side, bottom-freezer and Family Hub refrigerators across Denver and 30 nearby cities, 24/7.

Our team has repaired more than 1,000 refrigerators, Samsung and other brands. Samsung is one of the brands we see most: between January and October 2026 we ran 81 Samsung refrigerator calls, and more than a third of them (30) were ice maker problems.

What we see most on Samsung refrigerators
- Ice maker freezing up in the door. On many French-door models the ice maker lives in the fresh-food door. Warm air gets into that compartment, frost builds, and the ice maker or the chute jams. Defrosting buys a few days. The real fix is finding what lets the frost form: a fan, a heater or the compartment seal.
- Fridge section warm, freezer fine. Usually an iced-over evaporator or a fan that stopped turning. Samsung flags this as 22E/22C (fridge fan) or 5E (fridge defrost sensor).
- Freezer fan noise or 21E. The fan blade hits ice, or the motor has failed.
- Water on the floor or under the crisper drawers. A frozen defrost drain or a water line issue.
- Display shows OF OF or scrolling bars, nothing cools. That is demo (cooling off) mode, not a failure. See the code table below.

From our service log: top half warm, bottom half fine
A typical call from this year: a Samsung 4-door refrigerator where the top fresh-food section had gone warm while the lower compartments still held temperature. The thermometer at the shelf read 44 °F, well above the 37–40 °F a fridge should hold. Behind the rear panel, the evaporator was packed with ice, so the fan could not push cold air into the fridge section. That pattern points to the defrost circuit — heater, sensor or control — rather than the compressor, which is why we check it before quoting anything bigger.

Samsung refrigerator error codes
Codes and meanings below are from Samsung’s own support documentation. Write the code down before you call; it helps us bring the right part.
| Code | What Samsung says it means | What to do first |
|---|---|---|
| 21E | Freezer fan error — fan not detected turning | Make sure the doors close fully; if it returns, call for service |
| 22E / 22C | Fridge fan error, often after a door was left open | Unplug, leave the doors open a few hours, restart; if it returns, call |
| 5E | Fridge defrost sensor error | Service needed |
| 8E / 14E | Ice maker sensor error | Service needed |
| 33E | Ice pipe heater error | Service needed |
| 39E / 39C | Ice maker function error | Service needed |
| 40E / 40C | Ice room fan error | Service needed |
| 83E / 85E / 86E / 88 88 | Compressor current or voltage fault, power surge or brown-out | Cut power for 60 seconds and restore; if it returns, call |
| 84C | Compressor lock | Service needed |
| PC ER / PC CH | Communication error between components | Power cycle; if it returns, call |
| OF OF / O FF | Cooling off (demo) mode — not a failure | Hold the top two left buttons 5–8 seconds until it chimes; check your manual |
Samsung asks owners not to unplug the fridge or press panel buttons to clear a code unless told to. Family Hub models list current and past codes under Apps → Fridge Manager → Fridge Settings → Self Check. Samsung’s full code list.

Find your Samsung model number
Samsung puts the label in two places: inside the fresh-food section on the left wall, and outside at the bottom left of the cabinet. The first letters tell us the type: RF French door, RS side-by-side, RB/RL bottom freezer, RT top freezer.

Repair or replace?

If the cabinet and compressor are healthy, fan, sensor, heater and ice maker repairs are almost always worth it. A compressor or sealed-system failure on an older unit is where we give you an honest repair-versus-replace number. Either way, you get a written quote before any work starts, and the $99 service call is waived if you go ahead with the repair.

Frequently Asked Questions
On many French-door models the ice maker sits in the door, and warm air entering that compartment turns into frost. Defrosting clears it for a while; a lasting fix means repairing the fan, heater or seal that lets warm air in.
22E or 22C is the fridge fan error. Samsung suggests unplugging, leaving the doors open for a few hours, then restarting. If the code comes back, the fan or the evaporator needs service.
Nothing is broken: that is cooling off (demo) mode. Hold the top two buttons on the left side of the panel for 5-8 seconds until it chimes. Some newer models also need the top right button.
