1. Overheated and won’t start
In October 2025 a Frigidaire dryer overheated and then wouldn’t start. It needed a new thermistor and a new high limit thermostat. A dryer that overheats almost always has an airflow problem behind it, so the vent and lint path are part of the repair.
In January 2026 a Frigidaire dryer was showing E66, and we took the front off to test the heating circuit.
2. Codes and controls

3. Noise and belts
In October 2025 a noisy Frigidaire needed a new blower wheel and housing. In September 2025 a stacked Frigidaire looked like it needed a new belt. A thumping or squealing dryer usually has a worn roller, idler pulley or blower wheel; a dryer that runs but doesn’t tumble usually has a broken belt.
4. Door won’t close
In January 2025 the door of a Frigidaire dryer wouldn’t stay closed. A new door catch fixed it. The dryer won’t run unless the door switch sees the door shut.

- Clean the lint filter and check that the outside vent flap opens when the dryer runs.
- Check the breaker. An electric dryer needs 240 volts; if half of a double breaker trips, the drum can turn without heat.
