Frigidaire is owned by Electrolux and also builds most Kenmore ranges, so its igniters, elements, relay boards and control boards are common and easy to get. Our technicians, with more than 30 years of combined experience and over 10,000 appliance repairs behind the company, see the same Frigidaire oven problems again and again: weak gas igniters, relay boards, temperature controls, and cracked glass cooktops.

1. Oven not heating or won’t preheat
On a gas Frigidaire, the bake igniter is the first suspect. In December 2024 a Frigidaire gas oven that heated sometimes and then quit needed two new igniters. In June 2026 a brand-new Frigidaire had been on for four hours and barely reached 237°F; the igniter needed replacing, and because the range was only a month old, the owner chose to use the factory warranty. In December 2024 another Frigidaire wasn’t heating, and cleaning the bake burner was enough.

In June 2025 a Frigidaire that wouldn’t preheat needed a new thermostat. In February 2026 a Frigidaire was taking far too long to cook. In January 2026 the fan inside a Frigidaire convection oven had become noisy.

2. Relay boards and controls
Frigidaire ovens switch their elements through relays on a board. When a relay fails, one part of the range stops while the rest works. In June 2024 a Frigidaire oven wouldn’t bake but the broiler still worked. In April 2025 we tested the relay board of a Frigidaire range that wouldn’t heat. In June 2025 a Frigidaire electric range with a switch problem needed a new switch control board, and in December 2025 a 2019 Frigidaire had a faulty control panel.

3. F10 and F12
Frigidaire lists F10 as thermal runaway: the oven is getting hotter than it should. In November 2024 a Frigidaire oven with F10 needed a new control board. Turn an oven with F10 off at the breaker until it’s checked.
Frigidaire lists F12 as a micro identification error. In September 2026 a Frigidaire gas range was beeping and showing F12. Frigidaire’s first step is to cut power to the range for 30 seconds; if the code comes back, the control needs to be tested.
4. Glass cooktops and burners
A chipped or cracked glass top should be replaced, not used. In March 2026 we were called to a Frigidaire with a chipped glass stovetop, and in June 2026 we replaced the ceramic glass top on a Frigidaire electric range.
In October 2025 the front left burner of a Frigidaire Gallery gas cooktop more than 20 years old had stopped lighting. The burners needed replacing, and on a cooktop that age the owner chose to think about a replacement instead.

5. Gas smell or gas leak
In January 2025 a Frigidaire stove was leaking gas, and we replaced the burner gas valve. If you smell gas, turn off the gas supply to the range, don’t use any switches or flames, leave the house, and call your gas utility first. We repair the range once it’s safe.

Frigidaire range codes
From Frigidaire’s own range error code guide. Codes vary by model; check your manual for yours.
| Code | What Frigidaire says it means |
|---|---|
| F1 | Shorted key pad. |
| F3, F20, F26 | Communication error. |
| F10 | Thermal runaway. |
| F12 | Micro identification. |
| F13 | E prompt failure. |
| F30 | Open probe. |
| F31 | Shorted probe. |
| F40, F41 | Cooktop lock out. |
| F90 to F94 | Door lock issue. |
Before you call: three quick checks
- Reset the range. Frigidaire recommends cutting power for up to 30 seconds, at the plug or the breaker.
- Check the gas supply. On a gas range, make sure the valve behind it is fully open and the burner caps are seated.
- Watch the bake igniter. If it glows for more than a minute and the burner doesn’t light, the igniter is probably weak.
Repair or replace?
Igniters, thermostats, switches, gas valves and fans are reasonable repairs on a Frigidaire range. Relay and control boards and glass tops cost more, so on an older range we give you an honest repair-versus-replace number. Either way, you get a written quote before any work starts, and the $99 service call is waived if you go ahead with the repair.

Frequently Asked Questions
The most common cause on our calls is a weak bake igniter. It can glow without getting hot enough to open the gas valve. A relay board or control problem can also stop the heat.
Frigidaire lists F10 as thermal runaway, meaning the oven is getting hotter than it should. Turn it off at the breaker and have it checked. On one of our calls it needed a new control board.
On an electric range it's usually the bake element or the relay that powers it. On a gas range it's usually the bake igniter.
Yes. We replace ceramic glass tops on Frigidaire electric ranges. Don't use a cracked top, because spills can reach the elements and wiring.
The service call is $99 and is waived if you go ahead with the repair. You get a written quote for parts and labor before we start, so there are no surprises.
