Kenmore doesn’t build its own ranges. Most Kenmore ovens and ranges we repair are made by Frigidaire, and their igniters, elements, relay boards and control boards are Frigidaire parts, which makes them easy to get. Our technicians, with more than 30 years of combined experience and over 10,000 appliance repairs behind the company, see the same Kenmore oven problems again and again: gas igniters, burned bake elements, control and relay boards, and convection fans.

1. Oven not heating

On a gas Kenmore, the bake igniter is the usual cause. It has to glow hot enough to open the gas valve, and a weak igniter can glow without ever lighting the burner. In January 2025, March 2026 and July 2026 we replaced bake igniters on Kenmore gas ranges. In May 2024 and December 2024 we were called to Kenmore gas ovens that weren’t heating at all.

On an electric Kenmore, look at the bake element. In February 2025 the lower oven element of a Kenmore double oven had burned out, and the burn had damaged the control board, control panel and wiring too. In August 2024 a Kenmore induction range oven wasn’t getting hot.

2. Control boards, relay boards and power

  • No power. In January 2025 a Kenmore oven had no power at all, and the control board assembly had to be replaced.
  • Relay board. In June 2026 the top oven of a Kenmore Elite double oven stopped working, and a new relay board fixed it.
  • Only the broiler works. In January 2026 a Kenmore oven heated only with the broiler, and some burners weren’t lighting either.
  • Arcing. In July 2025 a Kenmore range stopped working after arcing. Burned wires and terminals have to be repaired along with the part that failed.

3. Overheating, F10 and other codes

In November 2025 the top oven of a Kenmore started to overheat and showed F10. An oven that runs too hot is a safety problem: turn it off at the breaker and don’t use it until it’s checked. In September 2026 a Kenmore was showing an OE warning and beeping. A code tells us where to start testing; it doesn’t by itself tell you which part to buy.

4. Burners and cooktops

In October 2025 a Kenmore Elite cooktop had a problem with its electric ignition, and in November 2025 two burners on a Kenmore cooktop stopped working. On gas cooktops, a burner that clicks but won’t light is usually a dirty or wet burner cap or a spark electrode; on electric ones, a burner switch or the element itself.

5. Doors and convection fans

In March 2025 we rebuilt a Kenmore oven door after an earlier repair attempt had left it in pieces. In December 2025 a Kenmore stacked wall oven was making a loud noise, and the upper convection fan motor had to be replaced.

From our Kenmore oven and range service log

  • January 2025, oven not working. A new bake igniter.
  • January 2025, no power. A new control board assembly.
  • February 2025, lower oven element burned out. Element, control board, panel and wiring.
  • March 2025, broken door. Door rebuilt.
  • November 2025, top oven overheating, F10. Diagnosed the overheating.
  • December 2025, loud noise. A new upper convection fan motor.
  • March 2026, oven not heating. A new igniter.
  • June 2026, Elite double oven top not working. A new relay board.
  • July 2026, oven not heating. A new bake igniter.

Before you call: three quick checks

  1. Check the power or gas. Reset the breaker for the range, and on a gas range make sure the supply valve behind it is fully open.
  2. Watch the bake igniter. If it glows for more than a minute and the burner doesn’t light, the igniter is probably weak.
  3. Don’t run self-clean on an oven that’s already acting up. The high heat is hard on elements, locks and boards.

Repair or replace?

Igniters, elements, switches and fan motors are inexpensive repairs on a Kenmore range. Control and relay boards cost more, so on an older range we give you an honest repair-versus-replace number. Either way, you get a written quote before any work starts, and the $99 service call is waived if you go ahead with the repair.

Frequently Asked Questions

The most common cause on our calls is a weak bake igniter. It can glow without getting hot enough to open the gas valve. A failed valve or control can also cause it.

Most Kenmore ranges we repair are made by Frigidaire and use Frigidaire parts. Your model number tells us which parts fit.

On our call, F10 came up after the top oven started overheating. Turn the oven off at the breaker and don't use it until a technician checks the temperature sensor, relay board and control.

Igniters, elements, switches and fans usually are. Boards cost more, and we give you an honest repair-versus-replace number before you decide.

The service call is $99 and is waived if you go ahead with the repair. You get a written quote for parts and labor before we start, so there are no surprises.
