Miele dishwashers are built differently from most American models: a Waterproof system that shuts off the water if it senses a leak, a heater and relay on the circulation side, and electronics that report faults as F-codes. Our technicians, with more than 30 years of combined experience and over 10,000 appliance repairs behind the company, read those codes, test the parts behind them, and tell you plainly when the problem is outside the dishwasher.

1. F24 and heating faults
Miele lists F24 as a heating relay contact fault, which it says you can’t fix yourself. In August 2026 a Miele showing F24 needed a new heater relay and heater pressure switch. When F24 came back a few weeks later, we went back and replaced the control electronics as well. A fault on the heating circuit can involve more than one part.
2. F14 and the circulation pump
Miele lists F14 as a blocked circulation pump. After a long break between cycles, the pump can dry out and stick, and Miele’s own first step is to pour hot water with a few drops of rinse aid into the tub and let it sit before restarting. Miele also points to the pressure or heating level switch. In August 2026 we were called to a Miele with F14 and tested the pump and the pressure switch.

3. Water inlet faults and short cycles
Miele lists F12, F13 and F15 as water inlet faults. In January 2025 a Miele had shown F12 and then stopped with the drain light flashing. The cause was the water shut-off valve under the sink, which needed replacing: plumbing work, not a dishwasher part. In August 2026 a Miele turned on, ran for three to five minutes, and then shut off with the intake light on, another sign of a water supply problem.
Not every stop is the dishwasher. In October 2026 a Miele kept tripping the breaker the moment it started, but plugged into a different outlet it ran normally for 30 minutes. The breaker was the problem.
4. Not draining (F11)
Miele’s F11 on newer models means water is left in the tub because the drain pump cover isn’t seated or the drain pump is blocked. Miele’s steps are to remove the lower spray arm and filters, scoop out the water, and clear the pump. In September 2024 and November 2025 we were called to Miele dishwashers that weren’t draining, and on the second the drain system needed cleaning. In May 2025 a newly connected Miele wouldn’t drain because the knockout plug in the disposer had never been removed.
5. Leaks, doors and panel-ready fronts
In May 2024 a leaking Miele needed a new door seal, and the cabinet next to it had already swollen from the water. In March 2026 we were called to another leaking Miele. Miele’s Waterproof system (F70) is meant to stop the water, but a slow leak at the door can still reach the floor and cabinets.
Panel-ready Miele dishwashers need their decorative front aligned to the door. In August 2025 we realigned a Miele dishwasher and rearranged its furniture front after a handle problem. In October 2025 a Miele door wouldn’t close properly, and in May 2025 we fixed a Miele door problem.

Miele dishwasher codes
From Miele’s own fault pages. Codes vary by model; check your manual for yours.
| Code | What Miele says it means |
|---|---|
| F11 | Drain fault: water left in the tub. Drain pump cover not seated, or drain pump blocked. |
| F12, F13, F15 | Water inlet fault. |
| F14 | Circulation pump blocked. |
| F24 | Heating relay contact fault. |
| F70 | Waterproof system. |
Before you call: three quick checks
- Open the water supply under the sink fully. Miele’s water inlet faults often start there.
- Clean the filters and check that the drain pump cover under them is seated.
- After a long break, follow Miele’s F14 step: hot water with a few drops of rinse aid in the tub for 5 minutes, then restart.
Repair or replace?
Seals, relays, pressure switches and drain pumps are well worth repairing on a Miele, which is built to last many years. Control electronics cost more, so on an older unit we give you an honest repair-versus-replace number. Either way, you get a written quote before any work starts, and the $99 service call is waived if you go ahead with the repair.

Frequently Asked Questions
Miele lists F24 as a heating relay contact fault that needs a technician. On our calls it was fixed with a new heater relay and pressure switch, and on one unit the control electronics as well.
Miele lists F14 as a blocked circulation pump. After a long break, try Miele's step of hot water with rinse aid in the tub. If it returns, the pump or the pressure switch needs testing.
A water inlet problem is the most common cause: a closed or failing shut-off valve, a kinked hose, or the inlet valve. Miele shows these as F12, F13 or F15.
Yes. We repair fully integrated and panel-ready Miele models and realign their decorative fronts.
The service call is $99 and is waived if you go ahead with the repair. You get a written quote for parts and labor before we start, so there are no surprises.
