Miele appliances we service around Denver
Miele appliances are built to European standards and often installed flush with custom cabinet fronts. Repairs usually mean sliding a fully integrated dishwasher out of its opening, protecting the cabinetry and realigning the furniture front afterwards, so the work takes care as well as the right part.

F11 and the Miele drain pump
F11 is the most common call we get on Miele dishwashers. The code means water is not draining. Miele’s first steps are to clean the filter combination in the bottom of the tub and check the non-return valve, because a valve put back the wrong way after cleaning will also trigger F11. Next is the drain pump impeller: a glass splinter can wedge it so the pump hums and the tub stays wet. If the impeller turns freely and the code returns, the drain pump has usually failed and we replace it. Miele separates F11 guidance for G 1xxx–G 6xxx and for G 7xxx / G 5xxx Discovery models built from 2019, so we note the model before ordering parts.
F70: the Waterproof system
Miele’s Waterproof system cancels the program and runs the drain pump when it senses water in the base. In practice, water has reached the base pan and lifted the float. Miele says to close the faucet, switch off and unplug, and call service. The leak source is what matters: a hose connection, the door gasket, or a sump or spray-arm seal. We find and fix the leak, dry the base pan and confirm the float resets.
Circulation pumps that stick after idle time
F14, F69 and F78 can all mean a blocked circulation pump. Miele links this to long breaks between uses: residue dries inside the pump and the rotor sticks. Miele’s own fix is the hot-water and rinse-aid soak described under safe checks below. If the code persists, or the machine shows F79 (circulation pump fault), the pump or its electronics need replacing. F14 can also point to the pump pressure level switch or heating level switch, which we test before replacing a pump.
What we actually find on Miele calls
The tables above list what usually fails. These are the repairs we have actually done on Miele appliances, with photos from our own jobs.
1. Dishwasher F14 and F24: pump and heating
In August 2026 a Miele dishwasher showed F14, and in another home that month a dishwasher showed F24 and needed a new heater relay and heater pressure switch. When F24 came back a few weeks later, we replaced the control board as well. In August 2026 another Miele turned on for three to five minutes, lit the intake light and shut off.

2. Leaks
In May 2024 a leaking Miele dishwasher needed a new door seal. In March 2026 another leaked, and we pulled it out of the cabinet to find the source. A Miele with a working Waterproof system may shut itself off and pump out rather than flood the floor, so a dishwasher that stops mid-cycle may be leaking even if the floor is dry.

3. Not draining
In January 2025 a Miele showed F12 and then a flashing red drain light; the water tap feeding it had to be replaced. In May 2025 a dishwasher that would not drain was connected to a new garbage disposal whose knockout plug had never been removed; removing it fixed the problem. We also cleaned a Miele drain system in November 2025.
4. Doors, handles and custom fronts
In August 2025 we realigned a Miele dishwasher, its mounting hardware and its custom furniture front after the handle and door stopped lining up, and in October 2025 another Miele door would not close properly. In July 2026 we installed two Miele dishwashers, including the decorative panel on one.

5. Washers and dryers
We were called to Miele washers showing F63 in October 2024 and September 2025, cleared a clogged drain on a W1 stackable washer that would not start in November 2025, and cleaned the TwinDos detergent system on a W1 that was not dispensing properly in August 2025; its water line had also been shut off. In July 2026 we cleaned a Miele washer and recommended a new door boot, and in August 2025 we cleared a clogged vent on a Miele dryer.
One more lesson: in October 2026 a Miele dishwasher tripped the breaker as soon as it started, but ran normally for 30 minutes on another outlet. The problem was the home’s breaker, not the dishwasher.

Miele error codes and what they mean
Miele shows faults as an F-number on the display. Meanings depend on the product: F11 on a dishwasher is a drain fault, F11 on a washer is a restricted drain, and F11 on a steam oven means the steam generator cannot drain. Steps can also differ by model generation. Write the code down before you call, along with the model and serial number from the data tag. Meanings below come from Miele’s own support articles; some repair blogs publish meanings that do not match Miele.

Before you call: safe checks
- Reset the power. Turn the breaker off for 30 seconds and back on. It clears many one-off electronic faults.
- Dishwasher F11: switch off, then remove and rinse the filter combination and check the non-return valve is seated correctly. Watch for glass splinters near the drain pump.
- Dishwasher F12 / F13 / F15: make sure the water valve under the sink is fully open and the inlet hose is not kinked behind the machine.
- Dishwasher F14 / F69 / F78 after time away: pour about 1 liter of hot water (165°F or cooler) with 3–5 drops of rinse aid into the sump, wait 5 minutes, and restart two or three times.
- T1 dryer running long: clean the lint filters and the plinth filter at the bottom front.
- Steam oven F20 or F10: check the water container is pushed fully into place and its seal is not dry or cracked. If you use reverse-osmosis water, try regular tap water.
If a Waterproof message appears, close the water supply, unplug and call.
Denver and high-altitude notes for Miele
Steam ovens need to learn the boiling point
Miele steam and combi-steam ovens set their boiling point by altitude. On first use, Steam Cooking runs at 212°F for 15 minutes so the oven can learn the local boiling point. If the oven is moved and the altitude changes by 984 ft (300 m) or more, Miele says the boiling point must be reset, which is done through descaling. That matters here: Denver sits at about 5,280 ft, and water boils at about 202°F at 5,000 ft, dropping about 1°F for each additional 500 ft (NMSU Extension). A steam oven set up at sea level, or moved from a mountain home, is calibrated for the wrong boiling point until reset. Miele notes the first setting, and any setting after a move, will produce more steam than usual. That is normal.
Water hardness and limescale
Denver Water says its southern system is moderately hard and its northern system is somewhat soft, and water is slightly harder in winter. Suburbs on other utilities and homes on wells can differ again. Test your water (Miele includes test strips with steam ovens) and set the hardness on dishwashers, steam ovens and coffee machines. Limescale is what drives steam oven F11 and many dishwasher inlet faults.
Reverse-osmosis water and steam oven F10
Miele lists reverse-osmosis water as a cause of steam oven F10: its conductivity can be too low for the oven to detect. In homes with RO systems, we check that first.
Mountain homes, second homes and idle pumps
Miele dishwashers are rated for use up to 4,000 m (about 13,100 ft), so ski and mountain homes are within spec. The bigger issue in second homes is time: Miele links stuck circulation pumps (F14, F69, F78) to long breaks between uses. Miele also says heat-pump dryers should not be installed where frost is possible, which rules out unheated garages and cabins left cold over winter.
Find your Miele model and serial number
Miele’s data tag lists the product type (model), material number, serial number index and serial number. Refrigeration tags omit the material number.
| Product | Where the tag is |
|---|---|
| Cooktops (including ProLine and SmartLine) | Underside of the appliance; a spare tag comes in the accessories kit to stick in the operating instructions |
| Steam and combi-steam ovens | At the top of the opened control panel, behind the lift-up panel |
| T1 heat-pump dryers | In the door opening area, visible with the door open |
| W1 washers | Inside the door or door opening area |
| Dishwashers | On the side edge of the door, visible when the door is open |
| Wall ovens, coffee machines, refrigerators | Use the diagram on Miele’s data plate finder, or check the spare tag in your operating instructions |
Miele maintenance schedule
| Task | How often | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Clean dishwasher filters | When “Check filters” appears (every 50 cycles) | Prevents F11 drain faults and poor washing |
| Inspect dishwasher spray arms | About every 2–4 months | Blocked nozzles reduce cleaning |
| Check dishwasher overall condition | About every 4–6 months | Catches seal and hose wear before a Waterproof trip |
| Run Intensive 75°C | Monthly, if you mostly use low-temperature programs | Clears grease and deposits |
| Set water hardness, refill softener salt | At setup and when hardness changes; salt needed above 0.9 mmol/l | Prevents limescale on heaters and valves |
| Washer Hygiene / hot wash | When Hygiene info shows: a 140°F (60°C) program with cleaner | Prevents residue and odors |
| TwinDos maintenance | When a compartment has gone about 16 programs unused | Stops detergent drying in the hoses |
| Clean dryer lint filters | After every drying program | Airflow; prevents F55 |
| Clean dryer plinth filter and heat-exchanger fins | When the indicator lights or cycles lengthen | Heat-pump efficiency |
| Descale steam oven | When prompted, with Miele descaling tablets only | It locks after a set number of uses if not descaled |
| Descale coffee machine | When prompted (about 15–35 minutes; CVA uses 2 tablets, CM uses 1) | Other descalers can damage the machine |
| Replace MasterCool KWF 2000 water filter | About every 6 months | Water and ice quality, flow |
Factory warranty vs. our repair warranty
Miele’s US warranty on residential household appliances is 2 years parts and labor. The sealed refrigeration system (compressor, condenser, evaporator, drier, refrigerant and tubing) is covered for 5 years parts and labor, plus parts only in years 6–10. Cosmetic defects are covered for 60 days. Miele’s extended warranty, for 5 or 10 years in total, must be bought while the appliance is inside its 2-year warranty.
We repair Miele appliances in or out of warranty, and the choice of who does the work is yours. Some owners call us during the warranty period because they want a faster appointment or a technician who works on Miele every day. If you prefer to file a claim with Miele, keep your proof of purchase handy; if you want us to fix it, you get a written quote before any work starts. Miele’s warranty terms say repairs by outside service can affect remaining factory coverage, so check your terms first if keeping that coverage matters to you. Every repair we do carries our 90-day warranty on parts and labor.
Still having trouble with your Miele? Call 720-230-1229. We answer 24/7 and can usually be there the same or next day.
Repair or replace your Miele?
Most Miele failures we see are single components: a drain pump, a circulation pump, a door lock, an NTC sensor, an inlet valve or a heating relay. These are designed to be replaced, and a repair is usually far less than a new built-in Miele, which can cost many thousands of dollars once panels and installation are included. Replacement makes sense when several major parts fail at once, a leak has damaged cabinetry, or a part is no longer available. We use genuine OEM parts whenever available, tell you when a part must be ordered, and will say so plainly when a repair is not worth the money.

On a Miele dishwasher, F11 means water is not draining. Miele recommends cleaning the filter combination, checking the non-return valve is fitted correctly, and making sure the drain pump impeller turns freely, since glass splinters often jam it. If the code returns after that, the drain pump usually needs replacing.
Miele steam ovens learn the local boiling point on first use, and Miele says it must be reset by descaling if the altitude changes by 984 ft (300 m) or more. Water boils at about 202°F at 5,000 ft, so an oven calibrated at sea level is off in Denver. Expect more steam than usual right after the reset; that is normal.
Yes. We repair Miele appliances in or out of warranty, and every repair carries our own 90-day parts and labor warranty. Miele's standard warranty is 2 years parts and labor, with sealed refrigeration covered longer. Miele's terms say outside repairs can affect remaining factory coverage, so check your terms first if keeping that coverage matters to you.
Miele links these codes to a circulation pump that has dried out and stuck during a long break between uses, which is common in second homes. Miele's fix is to pour about 1 liter of hot water (165°F or cooler) with 3–5 drops of rinse aid into the sump, wait 5 minutes, and restart two or three times. If the code persists, the pump or a level switch needs a technician.
