Between January and October 2026 we completed 63 Samsung dryer calls. More than half were no-heat or slow-drying problems, and a failed heating element was the most common part we replaced on those calls. Noise and drum problems came next.

What we see most on Samsung dryers
- No heat or clothes still damp. On electric models it is usually the heating element, the thermal fuse or a thermostat. On gas models, the igniter or gas valve coils. Either way, we check the vent too, because a restricted vent is what burns these parts out.
- Takes two or three cycles to dry. Often a clogged vent run or lint inside the cabinet, not a failed part. Samsung models with a vent sensor can run a Vent Blockage test and show C80 or C90.
- Squealing, thumping or grinding. Worn drum rollers, idler pulley or belt. They come together as a repair kit, and we usually replace them as a set.
- Drum won’t turn, but the dryer runs. A broken belt or a drum that has come off its rollers.
- Burning smell. Stop using the dryer. Lint near the heater or a damaged vent needs to be checked before the next load.
- Error code on the display. Heat (HC, hE), temperature sensor (tS, tO) or door (dE, dO) codes. See the table below.

From our service log: vents cleaned, still not drying
A call from April in Centennial: a 7–8 year old Samsung dryer that was not drying even after the owners had the vents cleaned. Clean vents ruled out the most common cause, so the next check was the heat source. The heating element had failed, and replacing it brought the heat back.
The vent still matters after a repair like this. A restricted vent makes the dryer run hot, and that is what kills elements, thermal fuses and thermostats. If the vent run is long, crushed behind the dryer or full of lint, a new part can fail again, so we tell you what we see before we leave.

Samsung dryer error codes
Codes and meanings below are from Samsung’s own support documentation. Some codes differ by model, so check your manual too. Write the code down before you call; it helps us bring the right part.
| Code | What Samsung says it means | What to do first |
|---|---|---|
| HC/ |
Dryer is too hot; on electric models, low voltage can also mean the heater is not hot enough | Clean the lint screen and the exhaust vent; if it returns, call |
| tS/ |
Temperature or temperature sensor problem | Clean the lint screen and the exhaust vent; blockage is the most common cause |
| HC2 | Gas ignition error | Turn off for 2–3 minutes and restart; if it returns, call |
| Clg/ |
Vent Blockage test: vent clogged, about 80% or over 90% blocked | Clean the lint filter and the exhaust vent |
| C1 | Laundry found in the drum during the Vent Blockage test | Empty the drum and run the test again |
| dE/ |
Door, latch or door sensor problem | Make sure nothing is caught in the door and it closes fully |
| 3C | Motor | Turn off for 2–3 minutes and restart; if it returns, call |
| 9C1/ |
Abnormal supply voltage | Dryer on its own circuit, no extension cord; if it returns, call |
| bE/ |
A panel button is stuck | Turn off, then press and release each button |
| AC/ |
Internal components can’t communicate | Turn off for 60 seconds and back on; if it stays, call |
| Ct | Dryer is below freezing or above 104 °F | Let it sit at room temperature for an hour |
| CL | Child Lock is on, not a failure | Turn Child Lock off |

Before you call: two quick checks
- Not drying? Clean the lint screen, start the dryer and go outside to the vent hood. Strong, warm airflow is what you want. Weak or no airflow points to a clogged or crushed vent run, not the dryer.
- Gas dryer with no heat? Make sure the gas valve behind the dryer is open. If you smell gas, do not run the dryer; leave and call your gas utility.

Find your Samsung model number
On most Samsung front-load dryers the label is on the door frame: open the door and look around the opening. Samsung dryer models start with DV; on newer models DVE is electric and DVG is gas.

Repair or replace?
Heating elements, thermal fuses, thermostats, igniters, belts, rollers and door switches are almost always worth repairing on a Samsung dryer. A failed control board or motor on an older unit is where we give you an honest repair-versus-replace number. Either way, you get a written quote before any work starts, and the $99 service call is waived if you go ahead with the repair.

Frequently Asked Questions
On electric models the usual causes are a failed heating element, thermal fuse or thermostat. On gas models it is often the igniter or the gas valve coils. A restricted vent is what usually burns these parts out, so we check it on every no-heat call.
Samsung says HC and hE mean the dryer is running too hot. On electric models, low supply voltage can also cause it. Clean the lint screen and the exhaust vent first; if the code comes back, the dryer needs service.
Clean the lint screen, then check the vent hood outside while the dryer runs. Strong, warm airflow means the vent is fine and the heating side of the dryer needs a check. Weak or no airflow means the vent run is clogged or crushed.
Yes. We repair Samsung electric and gas dryers, in and out of the manufacturer warranty. Our own 90-day warranty covers parts and labor.
