Thermador appliances we service around Denver

Thermador kitchens usually combine a professional range or rangetop with wall ovens, a built-in or column refrigerator and a matching dishwasher. Thermador shares its platform with Bosch, which helps with parts: many dishwasher and oven components are easy to get even for older models.

Most common Thermador repairs

Symptom Usual cause Part / fix

Won’t self-clean or door stays locked Door latch or latch switches Door latch (00751505)
Heat escaping around the oven door Worn door gasket or hinges Gasket (00491569 / 00144652); hinge replacement
Dishwasher not heating (E09, E04) Circulation pump and heater assembly Pump and heater assembly (12008381)
Dishwasher won’t drain or leaks (E24 / E25 / E15) Blocked drain pump, kinked hose, worn door seals Drain pump (00631200), door gasket (12054183), lower seal (00432490 / 00744884), inlet valve (00622058 / 10023852)

Star burner clicking and ignition failures

The patented Star burner has 50 ports and a perimeter 56% longer than a round burner, and it reaches up to 22,000 BTU on select models. ExtraLow works by cycling the burner on and off, so the ignition system on a Thermador range or rangetop works harder than on most cooktops. The most common call we get is a burner that clicks nonstop after the cooktop was wiped down. Water wicks into the igniter or the spark switch behind the knob, and the module keeps firing. Often it dries out on its own. If it doesn’t, we test the switch, electrode and spark module and replace only the failed part. A burner that sparks but won’t light can also be a cap that isn’t seated or ports clogged with boilover.

E115 and runaway oven heat

On BSH-platform Thermador ovens, E115 means the cavity got too hot. The usual cause is not the sensor. It’s a relay on the power or control board that welds shut, so the broiler or bake element stays on even after the oven is turned off. One documented case on a POD301J wall oven had the broiler stuck on and overheating, and a new main control board (12022212) fixed it. If your oven keeps heating after you turn it off, switch off the breaker and call us. Don’t keep using it.

Dishwasher heat pump, limescale and leak protection

Thermador dishwashers heat water with a combined circulation pump and heater, and that assembly (12008381) is the single most common Thermador part we see replaced. Mineral scale shortens its life. Thermador has a dedicated code for it, E12 / E2060, limescale in the heat pump, and the fix starts with Thermador descaler (00311918) and softener salt where your model has a Crystal Protect softener. E15 / E3100 means water has collected in the base and the leak float has tripped. The dishwasher will keep running the drain pump until we find the leak, dry the base pan and reset the float.

What we actually find on Thermador calls

The tables above list what usually fails. These are the repairs we have actually done on Thermador appliances, with photos from our own jobs.

1. Burners and oven ignition

In March 2024 a Thermador range oven would not stay lit; a new igniter fixed it. In March 2025 the three left burners of a six-burner Thermador rangetop got no gas when the knobs were turned, and the right burners had stopped clicking, so the owners were lighting them with a lighter. Gas supply to individual burners and the spark system are separate problems, and we check both.

2. Wall ovens: not heating, errors and displays

In January 2026 both cavities of a Thermador double wall oven stopped heating a few minutes into a cycle and showed E118, even though both cooling fans were running. In March 2026 a built-in convection oven would not heat properly; we pulled the oven out of the cabinet, replaced the heating element and reinstalled it. In May 2026 an oven whose probe light stayed on needed a new control board, and in June 2026 we replaced an oven display board.

3. Refrigerators: warm, too cold or icing up

In August 2025 a homeowner who had been quoted $1,700 elsewhere asked us for a second opinion; the refrigerator needed a new inverter control board. In September 2025 the top section of a Thermador stopped cooling and needed evaporator and condenser fan work. In January 2026 a unit that sometimes ran too cold needed its temperature sensor, control board, damper and defrost sensor checked. In February 2026 ice kept building up and a new freezer fan solved it, and in September 2026 a returning customer needed a new door gasket.

Not every refrigerator call needs a new part. In March 2025 the replacement user board for a Thermador ice maker had connectors that did not match, and the original board started working again once it was reseated. In July 2026 we repaired a broken water dispenser button instead of replacing the whole dispenser.

4. Dishwashers: E09, E15, E24 and leaks

In May 2024 a Thermador dishwasher showed E09 and stopped drying; the circulation pump, which contains the heater, had to be replaced. In December 2024 another needed a circulation pump gasket. In March 2025 an E15 leak code needed new seals, in July 2025 a dishwasher that leaked while the owners were away needed a new Aquastop hose, and in November 2025 we worked on an E24 drain code. In January 2026 a dishwasher tripped the breaker only when the cooktop grill was on; the problem was the breaker, not the dishwasher.

Thermador error codes and what they mean

Codes depend on the product and the control generation. Newer Thermador units use BSH-family electronics, while legacy C, CJ, CM, S and SM ovens use older proprietary controls, so the same code can mean different things. Confirm with your model number before ordering parts. Thermador dishwashers show either an older two-digit code or a newer four-digit code, and the pairs in the table below mean the same thing. Write the code down before you call, along with the E-Nr from the rating label. It tells us which part to bring.

Dishwasher codes

Freedom refrigeration column warnings

Thermador does not publish a numeric code list for its refrigeration, and we don’t repeat lists from blogs. The Freedom columns show plain-language warnings: Door alarm, Temperature alarm (set temperature flashes; press ALARM to see the highest temperature reached), Low voltage, and Sensor fault. For a sensor fault, the manual’s self-test is: switch the unit off, wait 5 minutes, switch it on, then hold SETUP and ALARM OFF for 5 seconds. Note the message it shows and give it to us when you call.

Code still on the display? Call 720-230-1229. We answer 24/7 and can usually be there the same or next day.

Before you call: safe checks

  • Burner clicking after cleaning: turn the knob off and let the cooktop dry for several hours. Clean igniters with a barely damp cotton swab, never a wet cloth.
  • Burner won’t light: make sure the cap is seated flat and centered on the base. Clean the ports with a stiff nylon toothbrush, without gouging them.
  • Dishwasher E22, E24 or E25: remove the filter and rinse it under running water. Check that the drain hose isn’t kinked and the air gap is clear.
  • Dishwasher E15: turn off the water supply to the dishwasher and call us. Don’t keep restarting it.
  • Induction “dE” or a frozen display: turn off the breaker for 30 seconds, then turn it back on.
  • Freedom column too warm: check that nothing is blocking the door from closing, and press ALARM to see how high the temperature went.

Denver and high-altitude notes for Thermador

Whether a Thermador gas range needs a high-altitude kit depends on the model and your elevation, and the metro sits right at the threshold. Thermador’s documents disagree by model generation. An older Pro Grand dual-fuel installation manual says the range is certified to 2,000 ft and that natural gas units above 2,000 ft require high-altitude kit 746376. The current kits (PAALTKITH, PAALTKITGW, 12025444) for Pro Harmony, Pro Grand and the Pro Rangetop say natural gas units need the kit above 5,400 ft, up to 10,200 ft, and propane units at 10,000 ft and above. Denver proper is about 5,280 ft, just under that line. Homes in the foothills west of the city are above it.

The kit replaces specific orifices: main oven broil and bake, auxiliary oven bake, and on propane the front Star burner orifices. On the 36″ Pro Rangetop with natural gas, only a Star burner adjustment is needed. Thermador requires a qualified technician to do the conversion and to keep and label the original orifices. When a Thermador range has weak flames, lazy oven heat or sooting after a move or a new install, we check your exact model against its installation manual before changing anything.

Water matters too. Front Range water is moderately hard, which is why E12 / E2060 limescale codes and steam oven descale prompts are common here. Use the DESCALE program on steam ovens when prompted, and keep softener salt filled on dishwashers that have a softener.

Find your Thermador model and serial number

Thermador’s rating label lists three numbers: the E-Nr (model), the FD (production code) and the Z-Nr (serial). We need the E-Nr and FD to order the right parts.

Product Where the tag is
Pro Grand dual-fuel range Open the oven door. The label is in the gap between the right side of the oven cavity and the range side panel.
Dishwasher On the edge of the dishwasher door.
Wall ovens, rangetops, cooktops, Freedom columns Location varies by model; Thermador’s rating-plate finder on its support site shows where it is for your product.

Thermador maintenance schedule

Task How often Why
Change the refrigerator water filter Every 6 months, or when prompted Keeps water and ice clean and flow steady
Rinse the dishwasher filter Regularly; right away on E22 A blocked filter causes drain and wash faults
Refill rinse aid When the indicator lights Drying performance, especially with StarDry
Descale the dishwasher, fill softener salt On E12 / E2060, and as the softener needs Protects the heat pump from scale
Run the steam oven DESCALE program Regularly, when prompted Thermador says it is necessary for correct operation
Wash burner caps, clean ports and igniters After spills, once cool Clean ports and dry igniters light reliably
Replace grill ceramic briquettes When they turn black Even heat on grill models
Wipe stainless with the grain; condition refrigeration stainless Routinely; no chlorine cleaners Rust can’t be removed once it forms

Factory warranty vs. our repair warranty

Thermador’s current US warranty covers the entire appliance, parts and labor, for 2 years in all categories. Built-in refrigeration adds sealed-system parts and labor in years 3–6 and parts only in years 7–12, plus lifetime parts-only coverage for rust-through of the stainless door and inner liner. Dishwashers add parts-only coverage for electronics and racks in years 2–5 and lifetime coverage for rust-through of the tub liner and stainless door. Older units may have different terms; one older dishwasher manual shows 1 year of full coverage.

We repair Thermador appliances in or out of warranty, and the choice of who does the work is yours. Some owners call us during the warranty period because they want a faster appointment or a technician who works on Thermador every day. If you prefer to file a claim with Thermador, keep your proof of purchase handy; if you want us to fix it, you get a written quote before any work starts. Every repair we do carries our 90-day warranty on parts and labor.

Still having trouble with your Thermador? Call 720-230-1229. We answer 24/7 and can usually be there the same or next day.

Repair or replace your Thermador?

A new built-in Thermador range, wall oven or Freedom column costs many thousands of dollars, and replacing one often means matching cabinetry and cutouts. Most of the failures on this page are single-part repairs: an igniter, a spark module, a sensor, a fan, a latch, a drain pump or a heat pump. Those are almost always worth fixing. The decision gets harder when a control board fails on a legacy oven where parts are no longer available, or when a Freedom column needs sealed-system work after the coverage period ends. Thermador’s 12-year sealed-system coverage on refrigeration shows how long these units are built to run. We will tell you plainly when a repair is not worth the money.

Frequently Asked Questions

Our home service call is $99, and it is waived when you go ahead with the repair. After diagnosis you get a written quote before any work begins. Every Thermador repair includes a 90-day warranty on parts and labor.

E15 (E3100 on newer controls) means water has collected in the base and the leak protection float has tripped. Turn off the water to the dishwasher and call for service. The fix is to find the leak, usually a door seal, sump or hose, then dry the base pan and reset the float.

Usually moisture got into the igniter or the spark switch during cleaning. Let the cooktop dry for several hours and clean the igniter only with a barely damp swab. If it still clicks, the spark switch or spark module needs replacing.

It depends on the model. Current Thermador kits for Pro Grand and Pro Harmony are for natural gas above 5,400 ft, and Denver is about 5,280 ft, but an older Pro Grand dual-fuel manual calls for kit 746376 above 2,000 ft. We check your installation manual before making any change.

Thermador covers the whole appliance, parts and labor, for 2 years. Built-in refrigeration sealed systems get parts and labor in years 3–6 and parts only in years 7–12, and dishwasher electronics get parts only in years 2–5. We repair Thermador appliances in or out of warranty, and every repair we do carries our own 90-day parts and labor warranty.
