Fisher & Paykel is a regular part of our work, and most of our calls are for their DishDrawer dishwashers. Our technicians, with more than 30 years of combined experience and over 10,000 appliance repairs behind the company, also service Fisher & Paykel ranges, refrigerators and washers across the Denver metro. The repairs we do most often are DishDrawer drain motors, control boards, inlet valves and filters, plus washer pump hoses and oven burners.

Why DishDrawers show F1
F1 means the flood switch in the base of the drawer has been activated. Fisher & Paykel’s instruction is to turn off the water and power and call service. The code is a symptom, not the failure: water has got past something. On DishDrawers the usual suspects are a torn black lid seal, lid actuators that no longer pull the lid down evenly, a broken plastic link support in the harness and link assembly that pokes through the seal, and a cracked drain line. The flood switch itself can also fail, because its contacts oxidize. We find the leak path first, repair it, dry the base and then confirm the switch resets. Replacing the switch alone, without finding the leak, just brings the code back.
Lid faults, lid motors and the link assembly
A DishDrawer seals itself during the wash by lowering a lid onto the tub. F5, F6 and F7 are lid faults. Fisher & Paykel says F5 and F6 can be reset by switching the power off and on; if a lid code keeps returning, or F7 appears, the lid motors (actuators) or lid assembly need service. Because the drawer moves every time you open it, the wiring harness and link assembly that carry power to the drawer flex thousands of times. When they wear, they cause intermittent faults and can damage the lid seal, which leads back to F1. Harness kits are listed for DD603, DD224C and DD224P models, and we check the harness whenever we have a lid or flood problem apart.
F3 and hot inlet water
F3 is the code people most often misread. Fisher & Paykel says inlet water must be below 149°F (65°C), and the install guide recommends a maximum of 140°F (60°C). Homes with a tankless heater or a water heater set high can send water hot enough to trigger F3 on a perfectly healthy drawer. The fix in that case is a tempering valve on the supply, not a new sensor. If the water temperature is in range, we test and replace the temperature sensor.
What we actually find on Fisher & Paykel calls
The tables above list what usually fails. These are the repairs we have actually done on Fisher & Paykel appliances, with photos from our own jobs.
1. DishDrawer: one drawer stops, won’t drain or shows a code
Each DishDrawer drawer has its own motor and pump, so one drawer can fail while the other keeps working. In September 2025 the lower drawer of a DishDrawer showed F24, made noise and would not drain; we worked on its drain motor. In January 2026 a bottom drawer stopped working, and in August 2026 a DishDrawer needed a new Fisher & Paykel motor, which we ordered.
In July 2024 a double DishDrawer needed a new control board, in August 2025 another needed a double inlet valve, and in November 2025 a DishDrawer that was not cleaning properly only needed its upper filter cleaned and the unit tested.

2. Ranges, refrigerators and washers
In November 2024 we restored the bake burner operation on a Fisher & Paykel oven that had stopped working. In May 2025 a Fisher & Paykel washer was leaking from a recirculation pump hose that we replaced. In September 2025 we were called to a Fisher & Paykel refrigerator that was leaking and not cooling enough.

Fisher & Paykel error codes and what they mean
Fisher & Paykel uses different code systems by product and generation. DishDrawers with an LCD show F and U codes; newer drawers use E and A codes, and older non-LCD drawers use light patterns, and these generations do not share meanings. Fisher & Paykel splits its DishDrawer help by model number (models ending in 5, 6 or 7 versus others), so check your model before reading a code. ActiveSmart refrigerators signal faults by beeping. Write the code, or the number of beeps, down before you call, along with the model number. The meanings below are from Fisher & Paykel’s own user guides and support articles. Some repair blogs publish fridge and washer code lists that do not match Fisher & Paykel’s, and we do not use them.
DishDrawer F codes (LCD models: DD603 / DS603, DD605 / DS605, DD24, DD60, DD36, DD90)
| Code | Meaning | What usually fixes it |
|---|---|---|
| F1 | Flood switch activated | Turn off water and power; find the leak (lid seal, lid actuator or link support, hoses, drain line); clean or replace the flood switch |
| F2 | Motor problem | Wash motor (rotor / stator) or its wiring |
| F3 | Temperature sensor failed, or inlet water too hot | Keep inlet water below 149°F (65°C), add a tempering valve if needed; otherwise replace the sensor |
| F4 | Faulty temperature sensor or element | Heater element or sensor |
| F5 | Lid fault | Power off and on to reset; otherwise lid motor or actuator |
| F6 | Lid fault | Same as F5 |
| F7 | Lid fault | Call service: lid motors, lid assembly |
| F8 | Electrical problem | Power off and call service |
| F9 | Electronics malfunction | Call service: controller |
We do not publish numbered sub-codes for these faults. They come from Fisher & Paykel’s technician service mode and are read on site.
DishDrawer U codes
| Code | Meaning | What usually fixes it |
|---|---|---|
| U1 | Fill fault: water off, spray arm not fitted or not turning, or water block tripped | Turn on the water, re-seat the spray arm on the impeller, drain manually if full; otherwise check the inlet valve |
| U2 | Loading problem: items taller than the drawer | Reload so nothing stops the lid closing or the spray arm turning |
| U4 | Fault in the other drawer (double models) | Read and fix the code on the other drawer |
| U6 | Spray arm problem or low water pressure | Re-seat the spray arm and check supply pressure |
Newer DishDrawer A codes
| Code | Meaning | What usually fixes it |
|---|---|---|
| A1 | Water supply fault | Check the water valve is open and the hose is not kinked; then inlet valve diagnosis |
| A3 | Drawer cannot drain | Clean the drain filter, check the drain hose, air gap or high loop; then the drain pump |
ActiveSmart refrigerators: count the beeps
When an ActiveSmart refrigerator detects a fault it beeps, and Fisher & Paykel’s method is simple: the number of beeps is the fault number, so 5 beeps means Fault 5. On models with an LED panel, count along to the red flashing LED and add the binary position values together. Fisher & Paykel’s own example adds 1 + 4 + 8 to give fault 13. The fault numbers Fisher & Paykel confirms are below. For any other count, note the number and call; we read it against your model on site.
| Fault | Meaning | What usually fixes it |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Module failure | Technician: control module diagnosis |
| 2 | Defrost issue | Technician: defrost system diagnosis |
| 3 | Temperature sensor issue | Technician: sensor diagnosis |
| 13 | Ambient heater open circuit | Technician: heater circuit |
Washers, ovens and ranges
Fisher & Paykel front-load washers show “Err” plus a number (for example Err37) with continuous beeping, but the user guides do not publish what each number means. Fisher & Paykel’s steps are to switch off for 1 minute, check the installation and leveling, remove the load and run Rinse. If the code returns, record it with the serial number and call. We have not published oven or range codes here because we could not verify them against Fisher & Paykel’s own documentation. Give us the code and model and we will diagnose it on site.
Code still on the display? Call 720-230-1229. We answer 24/7 and can usually be there the same or next day.
Before you call: safe checks
- Reset the power. Turn the breaker off for 30 seconds and back on. Fisher & Paykel says F5 and F6 lid faults can reset this way. Do not keep resetting an F1: turn off the water and call.
- DishDrawer U1 or A1: confirm the water valve under the sink is fully open, and lift out and re-seat the spray arm so it sits firmly on the impeller.
- DishDrawer U2: look for a tall pan or utensil stopping the lid or spray arm, and reload.
- DishDrawer not draining: remove and clean the drain filter, and check the drain hose under the sink is not kinked.
- DishDrawer F3: if you have a tankless or high-set water heater, check the hot water temperature. It must stay below 149°F.
- Washer Err code: switch off for 1 minute, check the machine is level, remove the load and run Rinse, as Fisher & Paykel recommends.
Denver notes for Fisher & Paykel
Fisher & Paykel’s DishDrawer guides do not give altitude-specific instructions, so the local issues we see are about water and installation rather than elevation.
Water hardness
Denver Water says its northern system is somewhat soft and its southern system moderately hard, and water is slightly harder in winter. Homes on other suppliers or wells can differ. Some DishDrawer models have a built-in water softener; if yours does, set it to your water and keep it supplied. Scale on the heater plate and inlet screens is one reason we see heating and fill complaints.
Tankless water heaters and F3
Many remodeled Denver kitchens run on tankless water heaters. If the hot supply to the DishDrawer reaches 149°F (65°C) or more, the drawer shows F3. A tempering valve fixes the cause; replacing parts does not.
Drain installation and second homes
Fisher & Paykel requires an air gap or a high loop of at least 150 mm (about 6 in) on the DishDrawer drain to stop siphoning, and specifies water pressure of 14.5–145 psi on softener models or 4.3–145 psi on non-softener models. We check both on drain and fill calls. For mountain or vacation homes left empty, Fisher & Paykel recommends emptying the baskets, leaving the drawers ajar, and turning off the power and water.
Find your Fisher & Paykel model and serial number
| Product | Where the tag is |
|---|---|
| Front-load washers | On the rear of the machine, and/or above the drum opening with the door open |
| DishDrawer dishwashers | Location varies by model. Fisher & Paykel’s user guide has a Model / Serial No. box; check whether the installer filled it in, or we find the label on site |
| Refrigerators, ranges, wall ovens | Check the Model / Serial No. record in your user guide or your purchase paperwork; we confirm it on the first visit |
The model number tells us which code system and parts your unit uses, so have it ready if you can.
Fisher & Paykel maintenance schedule
| Task | How often | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Clean the DishDrawer drain filter | Whenever food particles are visible | Prevents drain faults and poor washing |
| Clean spray arm and filter plate | About once a month | Keeps the spray arm turning and water flowing (U1, U6) |
| Wipe the heater plate | With routine cleaning | Prevents residue and scale |
| Refill rinse aid and wipe spills | Regularly; wipe any spill immediately | Fisher & Paykel says unwiped rinse-aid spills can cause a service call not covered by warranty |
| Check hot water temperature | After installing or adjusting a water heater | Must stay below 149°F (65°C) to avoid F3 |
| Prepare drawers for time away | Before vacations | Empty baskets, leave drawers ajar, turn off power and water |
| Clean washer pump filter | When prompted, every 100 cycles | Prevents drain problems |
| Run washer Drum Clean | When reminded (100 cycles) or if it smells, with a commercial washer cleaner | Controls odor and residue |
| Clean washer detergent drawer / Auto Dose compartments | Regularly | Keeps dosing accurate |
Factory warranty vs. our repair warranty
Fisher & Paykel’s US warranty is 2 years parts and labor on new appliances for consumer use. The refrigeration sealed system has an additional 3 years, 5 in total; check your warranty booklet for exactly what years 3–5 cover. SmartDrive washer direct-drive motors are covered for parts only in years 3–10, excluding the motor controller and labor. Commercial use is 1 year parts only. Exclusions include installation problems, routine maintenance, misuse, flood, fire and unauthorized repairs.
We repair Fisher & Paykel appliances in or out of warranty, and the choice of who does the work is yours. Some owners call us during the warranty period because they want a faster appointment or a technician who works on Fisher & Paykel every day. If you prefer to file a claim with Fisher & Paykel, keep your proof of purchase handy; if you want us to fix it, you get a written quote before any work starts. Fisher & Paykel’s warranty terms say repairs by outside service can affect remaining factory coverage, so check your terms first if keeping that coverage matters to you. Every repair we do carries our 90-day warranty on parts and labor.

Repair or replace your Fisher & Paykel?
Most DishDrawer faults are fixable parts: lid seals, lid motors, flood switches, harnesses, wash motor parts, heaters and sensors. Fisher & Paykel sells repair kits for these, such as the shim motor seal kit for 605 / DD60 series drawers, which tells you the design expects repair. A drawer that is otherwise in good shape is usually worth fixing, especially in a kitchen built around a drawer-sized opening. Replacement deserves a look when several parts are failing at once, when a long-running leak has damaged the cabinet, or when parts for an older model are no longer available. Integrated column refrigeration and built-in ovens cost many thousands of dollars new, so a sensor, defrost or control repair is usually the better value. We use genuine OEM parts whenever available, tell you when a part must be ordered, and will say so plainly when a repair is not worth it.

F1 means the flood switch in the base has been activated because water got into it. Fisher & Paykel says to turn off the water and power and call service. Common leak sources are a torn lid seal, worn lid actuators, a broken link support or a cracked drain line, and the flood switch itself can fail from oxidized contacts.
Count the beeps: Fisher & Paykel says the number of beeps is the fault number, so 5 beeps means Fault 5. On LED panels, add the position values of the flashing LEDs (for example 1 + 4 + 8 = 13). Fault 1 is a module failure, 2 a defrost issue, 3 a temperature sensor issue, and 13 an ambient heater open circuit.
F3 means the temperature sensor has failed or the inlet water is too hot. Fisher & Paykel requires inlet water below 149°F (65°C), and tankless or high-set water heaters can exceed it. If the water is too hot, a tempering valve fixes it; if not, the sensor needs replacing.
Fisher & Paykel covers new appliances for 2 years parts and labor, with extra sealed-system and SmartDrive motor coverage. We repair Fisher & Paykel appliances in or out of warranty, with our own 90-day parts and labor warranty. Fisher & Paykel's terms exclude repairs by outside service from coverage, so check your terms first if that matters to you.
