JennAir is a big part of our everyday work. Our technicians, with more than 30 years of combined experience and over 10,000 appliance repairs behind the company, service JennAir wall ovens, ranges, downdraft cooktops, built-in and French-door refrigerators, undercounter ice makers and dishwashers across the Denver metro. The repairs we do most often on JennAir are oven control boards and cooling fans, burner and oven ignition, refrigerator defrost and cooling problems, ice makers, and dishwasher pumps and motors.

JennAir products and series we repair
RISE is JennAir’s commercial, traditional look: mixed metals, brass-accented knob collars, knurled handles and a raised “J” badge. NOIR is the modern look, with black glass and a hidden badge. Both run on the same Whirlpool-family platforms, so repairs follow the same diagnosis.

JennAir appliances we service around Denver
JennAir is Whirlpool’s premium brand, so many of its oven, refrigerator and dishwasher parts are shared with Whirlpool and KitchenAid. That usually means parts are available quickly, although some older JennAir control boards are no longer made.
Most common JennAir repairs
These are the repairs we are asked about most on JennAir equipment, matched to the parts most often ordered for these models. Part numbers are examples; the correct part depends on your model and serial number.
| Symptom | Usual cause | Part / fix |
|---|---|---|
| Wall oven or combination oven shows F2E1, buttons stop working | Stuck or failed button on the touch panel | Touch panel or user interface control, sometimes the control board |
| Oven not heating or wrong temperature, F3E0 / F3E1 | Oven temperature sensor or harness | Oven sensor (e.g. WP74008369), harness |
| Bake or broil element not heating | Burned-out element or open high-limit | Bake or broil element (e.g. WPW10184147), high-limit thermostat (WP7403P899-60) |
| Self-clean door won’t lock or unlock, F5E0 / F5E1 | Door lock motor or latch, door switch, door not seated | Door lock and latch assembly, door switch |
| Built-in refrigerator ice maker or dispenser not working | Ice maker, filter or cap, inlet valve | Ice maker assembly, water filter or cap, inlet valve |
| Freezer cold, fresh-food section warm | Condenser or evaporator fan, thermistor, inverter board, door seal | Condenser fan motor, evaporator fan blade or motor, thermistor, inverter board, door switch or gasket |
| Dishwasher not draining, F9E1 / F9E2 | Clogged filter, disposer knockout plug, kinked hose, drain pump | Clean the filter, remove the knockout plug, clear the hose, replace the drain pump |
| Dishwasher leak, F8E4 | Water in the drip tray from a supply fitting or door seal | Supply fitting, door seal (e.g. W11177741), float switch |
| Dishwasher door drops open, racks won’t adjust (older JDB) | Worn door balance links or rack adjusters | Door balance link kit (8194001), upper rack adjuster (WPW10546503) |
| Downdraft fan dead or noisy | Filter not seated against the microswitch, or a failing blower | Seat the filter; blower motor and wheel (e.g. 707704K) |
F2E1 on JennAir wall ovens
F2E1 means a button on the control panel is stuck or defective. It is a well-known complaint on JJW2, JJW3 and JMW3 wall ovens and micro-combination ovens, especially units with serial numbers starting in D or F, and owners report it can come back after a repair. JennAir’s first step is to clean the panel and cut power for 5 minutes. If the code returns, the touch panel or user interface control usually needs replacing, and occasionally the control board. We check the keypad ribbon and harness first, because a loose connector can look exactly like a failed panel.
Downdraft fans and retractable vents
JennAir is known for downdraft ventilation, and most “dead fan” calls are not dead fans. A microswitch behind the grease filter stops the fan unless the filter is fully seated. Retractable vents have a safety delay, so the button must be held for several seconds, and a vent that binds may have been installed out of level. When the blower really has failed on an older downdraft, bearings wear and the motor seizes or gets loud. We usually replace the blower motor and wheel together.
Dishwasher drain and leak codes
On JennAir dishwashers, F9E1 and F9E2 are drain faults, and on a new install the most common cause is a disposer knockout plug that was never removed. F8E4 means water has reached the drip tray and lifted the float. The code is the symptom, not the cause: we find where the water came from (a supply fitting, the door seal, or a stuck-open inlet valve) before resetting it. F6E4 can trip on a dishwasher that simply is not level.
What we actually find on JennAir calls
The tables above list what usually fails. These are the repairs we have actually done on JennAir appliances, with photos from our own jobs.
1. Wall ovens and ranges: codes, boards and cooling fans
JennAir ovens rely on cooling fans to protect their electronics, and a weak fan often shows up as an error or an oven that will not start. In August 2026 a built-in double oven would not start; it needed two new cooling fans and a control board. In June 2026 a range displayed “upper blower fan speed too low” and needed a new blower motor. In October 2025 an oven with no heat needed a new control board, and in June 2026 a JennAir range showed F1 and F3, which pointed to the control board; and that board was out of stock everywhere at the time.
Sometimes the oven is fine and the house is not. In October 2026 a JennAir stove would not bake properly; we measured 110 volts between the two hot legs and 0 volts between one leg and neutral, so the fix was the home’s power supply, not a new element or igniter.
2. Gas burners and igniters
In August 2024 the big right burner of a JennAir stove stopped working and needed a new part; in August 2025 another stovetop needed a burner part; in October 2025 a cooktop’s burners worked again after a thorough cleaning; and in July 2026 a JennAir gas range had an oven igniter problem.
3. Downdraft cooktops
JennAir is known for downdraft cooktops, where a fan under the counter pulls smoke down instead of up. In May 2026 a downdraft motor would not turn on, and in March 2026 we were called to a downdraft cooktop with shattered glass.

4. Refrigerators and ice makers
In April 2025 a JennAir refrigerator that was not cooling had a frozen evaporator; we defrosted it and replaced the freezer defrost heater. In October 2024 another needed a new inverter board, and in October 2025 we force-defrosted a freezer and adjusted the refrigerator’s tilt. In January 2026 a JennAir with a burning smell checked out with no faults,, and we said so.
Ice makers are a frequent JennAir call. In July 2025 we worked on an undercounter ice maker that had stopped making ice, in April 2026 one that made ice in large fused blocks needed a new ice maker assembly, and in May 2026 we replaced the ice maker inside another JennAir refrigerator.

5. Dishwashers
In July 2025 a JennAir dishwasher left glasses dirty even with a clean filter; it needed spray arms and a pump motor. In November 2025 another would not drain and needed a new drain pump. In June 2026 a dishwasher would not start a cycle and showed F7E2, a wash motor fault, even though the owner had already replaced the water inlet valve.

JennAir error codes and what they mean
Code meanings vary by model and control generation. For example, F3E1 means a shorted sensor on some Whirlpool-platform single ovens but a lower-oven sensor fault on some double ovens. Where JennAir’s own pages define a code, we use JennAir’s meaning, even when other Whirlpool-family lists say something different. Treat these as common codes, not a guaranteed diagnosis. Most JennAir code pages start with the same step: cut power, wait, and see if it returns. Write the code down, and note what the appliance was doing when it appeared, before you call.
Wall ovens and ranges (F#E# codes)
| Code | Meaning | What usually fixes it |
|---|---|---|
| F1E0 | User interface or oven control fault | UI or electronic oven control, after a power reset |
| F1E1 | Electronic oven control (EOC) board failure | Control board |
| F2E0 | Keypad or touch panel shorted, or its harness disconnected | Reseat the ribbon or harness, otherwise keypad or UI |
| F2E1 | Stuck or defective button on the control panel (JennAir) | Clean the panel and cut power 5 minutes; otherwise UI or touch panel |
| F3E0 | Oven temperature sensor open (upper sensor on double ovens) | Sensor should read about 1,080–1,100 Ω at about 70°F; harness, sensor, then EOC |
| F3E1 | Sensor shorted, or lower-oven sensor fault on some double ovens | Same test as F3E0 |
| F3E2 / F3E3 | Oven over temperature (over 575°F in bake or 950°F in clean) on Whirlpool-family controls; F3E3 is the meat probe on some controls | Sensor or harness, then relay or control |
| F3E4 | Power attachment (rack accessory) unplugged or not seated (JennAir wall ovens) | Reseat the rack or attachment until it chimes, then reset power |
| F4E1 | Meat probe shorted | Probe reads about 59,000 Ω at room temperature; probe, jack or harness |
| F5E0 | Door switch and lock switch disagree (JennAir: door not seated) | Reinstall the door until it clicks; door switch or lock assembly |
| F5E1 | Self-clean latch won’t lock or unlock | Door lock motor or latch assembly, harness |
| F6E0 | No communication between the UI and control board | Harness, UI, then control board |
| F6E1 | Oven too hot during self-clean (JennAir); controls lock until it cools | Shorted element, stuck relay, control board |
| F6E2 | Oven too hot in clean mode | As F6E1 |
| F6E4 / F6E5 | Mismatched UI and control after a repair, or replacement board not programmed for the oven size | Install the correct part or program the board |
| F8E0 / F8E1 | Pro range; JennAir does not publish the meaning | JennAir says turn the knob to OFF and reset the breaker; if it returns, service |
| F9 / F9E0 | Outlet or appliance connection may be miswired; power-line noise or pressing keys in the 10-second power-up can also trigger it | An electrician should verify the supply, especially within 3 months of install |
| PF / flashing time | Power failure | Press Cancel and reset the clock |
| SAb / 5Ab | Sabbath Mode is on | Not a fault |
Older JennAir ovens (Maytag-era 2-digit codes)
| Code | Meaning | What usually fixes it |
|---|---|---|
| F0 / F7 | Stuck or shorted function key | Touch pad |
| F1 | Touch pad or control (ERC) fault | Touch pad or control |
| F2 | Oven too hot | Sensor or relay board |
| F3 / F4 | Oven sensor open / shorted | Oven temperature sensor |
| F5 | Control fault | Control |
| F8 | A/D or control fault | Control |
| F9 | Door latch circuit fault | Door latch assembly or wiring |
Dishwashers
Digital models show the F#E# code on the display. Models without a display flash the Clean light: the F number, a 1–2 second pause, the E number, then about a 5-second pause before repeating. Seven flashes, a pause, then one flash means F7E1.
| Code | Meaning (JennAir where published) | What usually fixes it |
|---|---|---|
| F1E1 | Control module | Power-cycle 30 seconds; if it returns, the control board |
| F2E1 | Stuck button on the user interface | UI, or the control board if testing points there |
| F4E3 | Heating error | Heating element, high-limit thermostat, control |
| F6E1 | User interface error or main control (JennAir); other lists say “won’t fill” | Power-cycle, then UI or control; check fill too |
| F6E4 | Float switch; can trip if the dishwasher is not level | Level the unit, test the float switch, check for a stuck-open inlet valve |
| F7E2 | Wash motor error (JennAir) | Power-cycle, then service |
| F8E4 | Water detected in the drip tray (JennAir) | Empty the tray, check the float and supply connections, find the leak |
| F9E1 | Long drain or not draining (JennAir) | Filter, drain hose, disposer knockout plug, air gap, then drain pump |
| F9E2 | Drain motor error | Knockout plug on new installs, clogged drain or kinked hose, then drain pump |
| FAE4 / F10E4 | Diverter valve error | Power-cycle, then diverter motor or valve |
| H2O | Not detecting water | Water supply off or kinked hose, then inlet valve |
Refrigerators and columns
| Code | Meaning | What usually fixes it |
|---|---|---|
| Flashing “F” (built-in) | Error code; fault not specified | Reset power for 1 minute; if it returns, service |
| Call for Service (built-in) | Unit needs attention | Breaker off 5 minutes; if it persists, service |
| Over Temperature light (built-in) | Fresh food over 48°F or freezer over 15°F for more than 1.5 hours | Usually a power outage or new install; press Over Temperature Reset. If it is not cooling, diagnose the cooling system |
| PO (French-door / bottom-freezer) | Power outage; freezer reached 18°F or higher | Press Confirm to acknowledge |
| Door Ajar alarm | Door open about 2–5 minutes (model-specific); repeats every 2 minutes | Close the doors; check the gasket and door switch if it persists |
JennAir column refrigerators and freezers can also show F#E# codes such as F3E0, F3E2, F3E4, F3E5, FDE0 and FDEA. JennAir lists these codes but does not publish their meanings, so they need a technician’s diagnosis rather than a guess.
Code still on the display? Call 720-230-1229. We answer 24/7 and can usually be there the same or next day.
Before you call: safe checks
- Power-cycle at the breaker. Most JennAir code pages start here: 30 seconds for a dishwasher, 1 minute for a flashing “F”, 5 minutes for Call for Service or F2E1.
- Seat the downdraft filter. If the downdraft fan won’t run, push the grease filter fully in so it presses the microswitch, and make sure it sits at an angle, not flat against the fan wall.
- Hold the vent button. A retractable downdraft has a safety delay. Hold the button for several seconds before assuming it has failed.
- Clean the dishwasher filter. For F9E1 or F9E2, clean the filter and check the drain hose. On a new install, ask the installer whether the disposer knockout plug was removed.
- Reseat the oven door or rack attachment. F5E0 can mean the door is not seated on its hinges, and F3E4 means the power attachment rack is not plugged in. Reseat until it clicks or chimes.
- Check the water supply and filter. For ice or dispenser problems, confirm the supply valve is open and replace a water filter that is past 6 months.
If liquid spills into a downdraft vent, JennAir says to turn off the speed control and the breaker and let it dry naturally. Do not open the vent. Leave gas, sealed-system and live electrical work to a technician.
Denver and high-altitude notes for JennAir
JennAir sells a Natural Gas Range High Altitude Conversion Kit, W11035432, for elevations above 6,560 ft. It contains replacement orifices and JennAir recommends a qualified technician install it. The earlier W10679118 kit had the same threshold and is discontinued. JennAir’s pro-range installation instructions (JDRP436) also call for a conversion kit above 6,560 ft, listing W10160841 for natural gas and W10237848 for propane.
Denver sits at about 5,280 ft, below that threshold, so most Denver-metro installs do not need the JennAir high-altitude kit. Mountain homes above 6,560 ft, such as in Evergreen, Conifer, Breckenridge or Vail, may. We check your model and elevation before recommending it. Burner flame adjustment and LP conversion are separate services. Water also boils at a lower temperature at altitude (about 202°F at 5,000 ft, per NMSU Extension), so cooktop times can differ from recipes written at sea level. That is normal, not a fault.

JennAir maintenance schedule
| Task | How often | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Clean dishwasher filters | About once a month; every 2 weeks with daily use or a large household | Prevents drain codes and poor washing; use a soft brush, never wire, and never run without filters locked in |
| Replace refrigerator water filter | Every 6 months, when the light comes on, or when flow drops | Clean water and steady ice production |
| Clean refrigerator condenser (freestanding) | Not routine in normal homes; every 3–6 months with pets, heavy traffic or construction dust | Keeps the compressor from running hot |
| Clean built-in refrigerator condenser | Every 6 months in greasy or dusty spaces; JennAir recommends a servicer for built-ins | Built-in condensers are harder to reach and clog faster in kitchens |
| Clean downdraft grease filter | Regularly and whenever soiled (dishwasher-safe) | Restores airflow and odor removal |
| Clean the downdraft vent chamber | After spills or when it has a grease film | Grease buildup cuts venting and is a fire risk |
| Self-clean the oven | As needed; let it cool fully if F6E1 appears | F6E1 means overheating in self-clean; controls lock until it cools |
Factory warranty vs. our repair warranty
JennAir major appliances, including cooking and dishwashers, carry a 2-year limited warranty on factory-specified parts and repair labor for defects. Consumables such as filters and bulbs are excluded, cosmetic damage must be reported within 30 days, and commercial use is excluded. Current refrigeration coverage (2023 document) is 2 years full parts and labor, then years 3–6 on the sealed system (compressor, evaporator, condenser, dryer, tubing) with parts and labor, then years 7–12 on sealed-system parts only. An older refrigeration document lists years 3–5 for the sealed system and cavity liner and years 6–10 for sealed-system parts only, so coverage depends on purchase date and model.
We repair JennAir appliances in or out of warranty, and the choice of who does the work is yours. Some owners call us during the warranty period because they want a faster appointment or a technician who works on JennAir every day. If you prefer to file a claim with JennAir, keep your proof of purchase handy; if you want us to fix it, you get a written quote before any work starts. Every repair we do carries our 90-day warranty on parts and labor.
Still having trouble with your JennAir? Call 720-230-1229. We answer 24/7 and can usually be there the same or next day.
Repair or replace your JennAir?
A new built-in JennAir refrigerator, wall oven or pro range costs many thousands of dollars, and built-ins add cabinet and panel fitting on top. Most JennAir repairs are parts-level: sensors, elements, door locks, fans, drain pumps, float switches, blower motors and touch panels. Those are usually worth doing. The harder decisions are an out-of-warranty sealed-system failure, or a wall oven with repeated F2E1 failures where you may prefer a newer control or a replacement. We give you a written quote and a straight answer, and we will tell you when a repair is not worth it.

F2E1 means a button on the control panel is stuck or defective. JennAir's first step is to clean the panel and cut power for 5 minutes. If it returns, the touch panel or user interface control usually needs replacing, and sometimes the control board. It is common on JJW2, JJW3 and JMW3 series ovens.
Usually not. JennAir's natural gas high-altitude kit, W11035432, is for elevations above 6,560 ft, and Denver is about 5,280 ft. Most Denver-metro installs don't need it, but mountain homes above 6,560 ft may, and we check your model and elevation first.
The most common reason is a grease filter that is not fully seated. A microswitch behind the filter blocks the fan until the filter is pushed all the way in. If the filter is seated and the breaker is on, the blower motor or control may have failed.
JennAir major appliances carry a 2-year limited parts and labor warranty. Current refrigeration coverage adds sealed-system parts and labor in years 3–6 and sealed-system parts only in years 7–12, though older documents differ. We repair JennAir appliances in or out of warranty, and every repair we do carries our own 90-day parts and labor warranty.
