Since January 2024 we have handled about 45 Samsung dishwasher calls. About one in five was a drain problem, about one in six was a leak, and nearly one in four came in with a code on the display. The work we did most often was drain pump cleaning and replacement, circulation pumps, water inlet valves, control boards and wiring harnesses.

Many Samsung dishwashers wash the lower rack with the WaterWall: a fixed jet at the back sprays forward, and a moving bar (Samsung calls it the reflector) travels along a track and bounces the water up into the dishes. It cleans well when it works, but it adds a motor, a track and a sensor that other brands don’t have.

1. Not draining (5C)
Samsung lists 5C (also shown as SC, 5E or SE) as a drain error. This is the most common Samsung dishwasher call we get. Before we replace anything we clean the filter, the drain hose and the pump: in December 2024, May 2025 and October 2026 a drain pump cleaning was the whole repair, and in January 2024 the drain line itself was the problem. When the pump has failed, it gets replaced; we did that in August 2025, May 2026 and June 2026.

2. Leaking (LC)
Samsung lists LC (LE on some models) as a leakage error: the sensor in the base pan has detected moisture. The dishwasher will usually drain and refuse to run until the base is dry. In January 2026 a small amount of water in the base set off LC, and drying it cleared the code, but the unit showed signs of an ongoing leak that had to be traced.

- Sump gasket. In February 2025 a leaking Samsung needed a new sump gasket. The leak had been going on long enough to stain the cabinet floor.
- Pumps. In April 2025 an LC code ended with a new circulation pump; in August 2025 a leak needed both a drain pump and a circulation pump.
- Detergent. Dish soap or too much detergent makes suds that push water past the door seal.

3. Dishes not clean, WaterWall grinding
- WaterWall spray arm assembly. In May 2026 the lower WaterWall bar stopped moving and ground loudly; the assembly needed replacing. Samsung lists 7E as a WaterWall reflector error.
- Spray arm. In September 2026 a Samsung rumbled, beeped and took no water because the horizontal spray arm had come loose and the self-test could not finish. We reattached it to the motor.
- Circulation pump. A jammed pump stops washing altogether. In April 2026 we found a piece of plastic stuck in the grinder of one.
- Filter. Samsung lists 1E on WaterWall models as a clogged filter.
4. Won’t start, shuts off, or thinks the door is open
- Door lock. In January 2026 a Samsung behaved as if the door were always open; a new door lock fixed it.
- Control board. In February and April 2025 Samsungs that turned on and cut off needed new control boards, and in June 2025 a beeping unit with dirty dishes needed the electronic control board assembly.
- Wiring harness. In April 2024 and January 2025 damaged wiring had to be replaced.
- Water inlet valve. In May 2024 and April 2025 a failed valve stopped the cycle; one ran 10 to 15 minutes, never opened the dispenser, and stopped. Samsung lists 4C as a water supply error.
- Breaker trips. In January 2025 a tripping breaker came down to the drain hose and pump; we reinstalled the hose and cleaned the pump.

Samsung dishwasher codes
From Samsung’s published list. Codes vary by model; check your manual for yours.
| Code | What Samsung says it means |
|---|---|
| 5C / SC | Drain error. |
| LC / LE | Leakage error. |
| 4C | Water supply error. |
| 3C | Pump operation error. |
| HE | Heater error. |
| OC | Over-level water error. |
| 7E | WaterWall reflector error. |
| PC | Zone Wash error. |
| bE | Button error, a stuck button. |
| tE | Temperature sensor error. |
Samsung advises against simply resetting a code before the cause is found, because the problem tends to come back.

Repair or replace?
Drain pumps, circulation pumps, inlet valves, door locks, gaskets, WaterWall parts and control boards are worth repairing on most Samsung dishwashers. When an older unit needs a board and a pump at the same time, or water has damaged the floor, we give you an honest repair-versus-replace number. Either way, you get a written quote before any work starts, and the $99 service call is waived if you go ahead with the repair.

Frequently Asked Questions
Samsung lists LC (LE on some models) as a leakage error: the leak sensor in the base has detected moisture. The leak has to be found and fixed before the base is dried and the code cleared.
Samsung lists 5C (also SC, 5E or SE) as a drain error. Clean the filter and check the drain hose and disposal first. If it still won't drain, the drain pump may need cleaning or replacing.
The WaterWall bar travels along a track driven by a motor. A worn or broken spray arm assembly, a dropped utensil in the track or a failed motor makes it grind or stop. Samsung lists 7E as a WaterWall reflector error.
On our calls the causes were a failed control board, a damaged wiring harness, a bad door lock or a stuck spray arm. A diagnosis tells which one before any part is ordered.
The service call is $99 and is waived if you go ahead with the repair. You get a written quote for parts and labor before we start.
